Jaaie Varshney, she/her/hers,(PAP/Policy) University of Georgia, BA Candidate, Political Science, Women’s Studies (pre-med)

Jaaie (she/her) is a rising Junior at the University of Georgia studying political science and women's studies, and hopes to advance reproductive health, rights, and justice for all in both the medical and political spheres. Jaaie is a trained Bharata Natyam dancer and a yoga instructor in training. She is very excited to be a policy and advocacy intern at SisterLove, Inc.!

Shani Strader, she/her/hers

Rollins School of Public Health, MPH Candidate

Shani Strader is currently studying at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health in their program focused on Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences. Her interests include Black maternal and infant mortality and adolescent sexual health. She is a graduate of Spelman College and after completing her MPH degree, she plans to attend nursing school to begin a career as a Certified Nurse Midwife.

Rachel Silver, she/her/hers (PAP/Policy)
Emory University, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Major, Economics Major 

 

Rachel is a rising senior at Emory University majoring in Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies with a minor in Economics. At Emory, she is involved with multiple social-justice organizations including Emory Planned Parenthood and the Matriculate nonprofit. Her passion for law and policy sparked this past year at Georgia Wand, where she was involved  with governmental affairs at the State Capitol and wrote guidelines for an equitable jobs policy. Currently, she is researching the injustices of Japanese American internment for her WGSS honors thesis next year. Rachel hopes to attend law school one day and become either a public defender or a nonprofit advocate. 

Araya Dunne, she/her/hers (PAP/HYLASS) University of Iowa, Social Justice, and Music 

Araya Dunne is a rising third-year Social Justice major and music minor at the University of Iowa. Araya is one of many student leaders for the largest multicultural student organization on campus, named 'Walk It Out.' Being active in marginalized communities and  student organizations is important to her, and she believes that creating space is among the most important activism that can be done at a predominantly white institution. Some other interest areas for her include criminal justice and anti-racist legislative advocacy. 

Kheyanna Suarez, she/her/hers
Rollins School of Public Health, MPH Candidate 

Hailing from the beautiful island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Kheyanna Suarez has spent much of her upbringing in sunny, South Florida. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University in the summer of 2017 where she obtained a degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.  In May of 2017, she started as a Community Health Educator for Planned Parenthood serving the Broward County area and then later transitioned into a new role as the Youth Organizer for the Treasure Coast, Palm Beach, and Palm Beach Youth Council. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health at Emory University along with her certificate in Maternal and Child Health.

Peyton Rogers, she/her/hers (CBRP)
Rollins School of Public Health, MPHCandidate 

Peyton Rogers is pursuing a Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She also received a BA in Public Health from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Prior to her work at SisterLove, Inc., she contributed to a co-authored peer-reviewed journal article based on the research, Patients’ Experiences with South Carolina’s Immediate Postpartum Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Medicaid Policy in Contraception.

Celeste Ellison, she/her/hers (CBRP)
Rollins School of Public Health, MPH Candidate

Celeste is currently pursuing her MPH at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health in the Global Health department, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health, as well as a certificate in Maternal and Child Health. She received her BA in Global Health in 2019 from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to interning with SisterLove Inc., Celeste worked as a Research Assistant in the Global HIV/ TB Prevention Division at CDC, where she worked on a faith-based reproductive health program that addresses the needs of adolescents living with HIV.

Joya Farque, she/her/hers (CBRP)
Rollins School of Public Health, MPH Candidate, Behavioral Science and Health Education

Joya Faruque is a summer intern working on the GAMA project: Exploring Barriers to medication Abortion Access to Black and Latinx women in Georgia.  After graduating with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, she taught in Fulton County Schools, served on the School Governance Council, and Superintendent's Council. Joya has lived in Atlanta since she was a toddler, and is committed to improving the lives of those in and around Atlanta. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.

Gabrielle (Sun) Scott, they/them (PAP/Policy)
Georgia State University, Public Health

Sun is a Black genderqueer/variant organizer located in Atlanta focused on building power in communities. Their political analysis centers black feminist thought, reproductive justice, and prison abolition. They use collective power, team building, and radical thinking to ensure the freedom to Black trans and queer people in a world filled with systematic structures of white supremacy. By collaborating with organizations fighting for social justice, they have had the opportunity to work on issues surrounding money bail, pretrial detention, tenant rights, and reproductive justice.

Lily Simon, she/her/hers (PAP/Policy)
Dartmouth College

Lily Simon is a rising Junior at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She is from Gladstone, New Jersey, and plans to double major in Psychology and Spanish modified with International Studies. Additionally, she plans to pursue a minor in Global Health. At Dartmouth, she is involved in the Global Health Fellows Program, Sexual Assault Peer Alliance (SAPA), Club Lacrosse, a mentorship program called SIBs, and the sorority Chi Delta. She is very excited to start her research with SisterLove, Inc. to raise awareness of the barriers hindering reproductive justice for all.

Jonathan Dinkins, he/him/his (HEAP)
Walden University, MPH Candidate

Jonathan Dinkins is a student at Walden University. He is set to graduate in November 2020 with his Master's degree in Public Health. His ultimate goal is to become a Surgeon General or a Public Health Analyst. He looks forward to learning more about Prevention during his internship time with SisterLove, Inc.

Adeola Raji, she/her/hers (CBRP)
Georgia State University, Public Policy Masters Candidate

Adeola Raji is a graduate student at Georgia State University where she is pursuing a master’s degree in Public Policy with a concentration in Health Policy. She has four years of experience in the nonprofit sector and had previously earned a Master’s degree in Public Health. While she worked as a Consultant with The Challenge Initiative under the John Hopkins Centers for Communication Programs, she helped to improve and increase uptake of modern contraceptives through advocacy and policy implementation in South-South Nigeria. 

Andreyah Felder, she/her/hers (HEAP)
Kennesaw State University, Public Health

Andreyah Felder was born in Atlanta, GA but raised in Douglasville, GA. She is a senior Public Health major at Kennesaw State University. She is also a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

Betsy Saidy, she/her/hers (HEAP)
Kennesaw State University, Public Health Educatio

Betsy Saidy is a senior at Kennesaw State University majoring in Public Health Education. She chose this field to assist in the joined efforts to provide optimum health to the general population. Earning an internship at SisterLove, Inc. has been a great achievement for her and she believes that she will gain a lot of experience and knowledge which will be a step towards achieving her goal to serve different communities.

Jasmine Williams, she/her/hers (Comms)
Clark Atlanta University, Psychology

Jasmine Williams is an early graduating Senior at Clark Atlanta University studying Psychology. She is currently a Midshipman in the Morehouse NROTC program, where she will be commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy in December. After her time in the military, she plans on getting her Ph.D. in Counseling or Social  Psychology. She will use her degree to become a world-renowned Sexologist.

Cathryn Dimery Castro Marmol, she/her/hers (HEAP)
Walden University, MPH Candidate 

 

Cathryn Dimery Castro Marmol is an MPH student at Walden University who has extensive customer service and case management experience. Cathryn believes in excellence, hard work, and dedication. She is passionate about public health and the promotion of healthier and more fulfilling lifestyles. Cathryn has worked for Caliburn International under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a case manager and is currently a reservist for FEMA. Cathryn has been trained in customer services, case management, and leadership. Cathryn holds a Bachelor’s in Science in Public Health from American Public University.

Vivian Chen, she/her/hers (Comms)
Cornell University, Industrial and Labor Relations

Vivian Chen is a rising Junior at Cornell University, currently majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations with a minor in Business and Applied Economics. One of her strongest skills is her creativity. She loves content creation and it is very satisfying to her when the final project is something that fulfills its purpose but also aesthetically pleasing. She is a member in International Business Consulting where she engages in professional development and hands-on consulting projects. She has had experience working on PR/Social Media for another company, and is excited to work with SisterLove Inc. on increasing its social media presence.

Juliet Munsanje, she/her/hers (HEAP)
Kennesaw State University, Public Health Education

Juliet Munsanje is a Public Health Education senior at Kennesaw State University. She is graduating this summer. She is excited to be entering a field that she has a passion for and she is grateful to SisterLove, Inc. for giving her this opportunity to intern with them. She is an advocate for eradicating HIV/AIDS because she is from Zambia that has so many people living with and dying from this disease, including those very close to her.

Dorothy Ngene, she/her/hers (HEAP)

South University

Dorothy Ngene lives in Atlanta, Georgia and a mother of four children; two boys, and two girls. She is a recent graduate from Southern New Hampshire University, and her undergraduate is in Public Health.She is working with Home Health. She has been in the healthcare sector for more than twenty years and has a good experience in healthcare. She wants to continue her studies by getting a masters in public health and would like to work at nonprofit agencies or at CDC and probably work in global health and around the world as an epidemiologist if possible. During her internship, she hopes to gain more knowledge with people living with HIV/AIDS by supporting the local health department implementing the process of providing more testing at black neighborhoods. This will give her joy to contribute to my communities at large

Jasmine Atri is a 4th-year student at Georgia State University. Her major is Biology/Pre Med and she is pursuing medicine in the near future. She believes being an intern for SisterLove, Inc. will make her a better doctor in the future because she is gaining the knowledge to fight for reproductive justice and families impacted by HIV/AIDS and human rights.

Janae Dunkley, she/her/hers

Janae Dunklet is from Atlanta, Georgia. She is currently completing her MPH from Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health where she is pursuing a degree in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education. Her passion lies in issues regarding health disparities, trauma-informed care, early childhood development, and reproductive health.
